What is the best way to introduce a horse to a hackamore?

Sorry, but I'm one of those people who just put it on my horse and went riding with no problem at all but have you tried the Dr. Cook's bitless bridle. It is so much better. It is the only type of non pain based bridle out there. I have used all kinds of hackamores, long shanked, short shanked, etc and I love the Dr. Cook's better than any of them. I have more refined control and you don't have to worry about losing your balance and pulling on the reins because you can't hurt your horse. My mare just loves it.
