If the soul doesn't burn in hell forever, then explain?

The spirit is immortal, the soul isn't. Eternal lake of fire will be where the devil, his angels and the banished human souls will be thrown. I guess the banished souls would die off but the devil and his angels being spirits will continue burning forever.
