How do i stop my horse rearin lunging forward whilst being shod?

my horse is16.1hh and was very badly treated before i got her she is 6 years old and this the first time i have tried to get her shod.she rears,bolts,kicks out,is generally very unhappy and i dont want to frighten her or make it anymore traumatic for her as it seems to be.we got 2 front trimmed but thats as far as got as i didnt want to cause her anymore stress.repremanding her as the farrier suggested was not an option as only raising your voice gets her spooked.any suggestions would be much apprieciated!
